A.R. Rahman’s Oscar and Grammy award winning song for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, ‘Jai Ho’, will have its Tamil version coming up. The song was originally recorded in Hindi for the Hollywood film, and later the rights were acquired by The Pussycat Dolls to do an English version of the same tune, which also featured Rahman himself.
Rahman, who will be performing a Live concert in Chennai later today, announced that Jai Ho will be a part of his playlist for the evening, but it will be sung in Tamil by Ishrath, Rayahna and the rest of his group. The concert will feature only Rahman’s Tamil songs as part of the show’s theme.

The two songs from Kadal, Nenjukulle sung by Shakthishree Gopalan and Elay Keechan crooned by ARR himself have taken the top two spots in the itunes chart. The two songs penned by Vairamuthu and his son Madhan Karky, are priced at Rs 12 each on itunes. The complete album will be released on 17th December by Sony Music India, the music rights holder of Kadal.
The leads, Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair, who were kept under the shadows, were unveiled recently through the film’s first look posters. Directed and produced by Mani Ratnam, the film has Rajiv Menon’s cinematography and Sreekar Prasad’s editing. Arjun, Arvind Swamy, Lakshmi Manchu, Ponvannan, Thambi Ramaiah and Pasupathy form the ensemble cast list.
