Q&A session with the show’s Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz

I laughed, I gasped, I blushed, and I could not stop smiling. What caused this wave of excitement you ask? The winter premiere of Once Upon a Time, of course! Earlier this week I had the pleasure of attending an advanced screening of “The Cricket Game” followed by a Q&A session with the show’s charming creatorsEdward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

Prior to watching the episode, I asked the OUAT fans on Twitter if they had any questions for the second half of the season, and I received a swirl of enchanting tweets. We always want our readers to be heard, so I’ve paired your Twitter questions with answers from the producers and just like magic, your wish has been granted. Keep reading for all the mesmerizing details on Emma’s love life, Rumplestilskin’s search for his son, Charming family bonding, and much more!

@Betsypaige24 We're desperate to know if they actually care about Rumbelle. They never speak about them. Will we get ANY romance? Thanks!

Get ready to gasp because not only did the creators talk about our Beauty and a Beast (with a twist), they actually referred to them in passing as Rumbelle. It was trĂ©s adorable. “We’re going to actually see a lot of Rumple and Belle coming up,” Kistis confirms. “I think the second half of the season he’s going to collect that favor from Emma and he’s going to go in search of his son and he and Belle are going to face definite challenges. What’s interesting I think also is you’re going to see Rumple in a way is trying to change for her and as we all know sometimes it’s hard to change.” Horowitz added, “And Belle’s going to find some new obstacles and challenges in life in Storybrooke.” Don’t get too scared Rumbelle fans! There’s a super sweet (yet pretty brief) Rumple/Belle scene in “The Cricket Game”

@LizzieMo will we [see] Emma tell her parents more about her past & childhood? We need more charming family bonding.

Funny you should mention that because family bonding is exactly what’s coming up for our Storybrooke royals. Now that Snow and Charming are finally reunited, we get to see a lot more family interactions — and some blush-inducing, giggle-worthy moments when Emma returns home a little earlier than expected. Kitsis explains, “It’s fun to see [Snow and Charming] together again and I think for us they are kind of figuring out their new role being together, being in Storybrooke, and being Emma’s parent’s even though they’re the same age.” Howowitz follows, “The first half of the season really was really like them coming to terms with the memories are back and all that. Now going forward it’s well what does all this mean being a family?” And to answer your question, we will see Emma in “The Cricket Game” briefly trying to explain her less than perfect past to her parents.

@OnceWatcher Am I too late to throw something in the hat? Can you ask the creators if they know how many fans love Emma & Hook? Thanks.

Oh trust me they know. I asked that exact question and was greeted with two big smiles from our all-knowing showrunners. Kitsis laughed, “Yes both for and against I’ve seen.” And to my surpise, Horowitz then asked me, “Which side are you on?” All of the sudden my professional journalistic behavior was gone and my inner fan-girl proudly announced, “Oh I’m all for it!” My mother would be so proud.

@captainswans Please please please ask the OUaT producers about a possible Hook/Emma romance. We're all dying to know! Thank you!!!

Going off the same conversation, Kitsis was very light-hearted with his answer regarding a possible CaptainSwan connection. He joked, I think it’s hard to deny the handsomeness of Hook, and I think the real question is, is he going to loose the guy-liner in storybook? And the answer is no.” On a slightly more serious note, Kitsis explains that there are going to be quite a few men in her life this season. “Emma is going to find herself with a few choices this season and I think there are the people that are right for you, and there are the people that are wrong for, and then there are the people that you just choose and I think Emma is going to face all those things,” Kitsis said.
@AdagioClockwork I'm probably in the minority here but I really hope you have something in petto for us Neal/Emma fans as well. D:
Emma is quite the popular gal, and it seems that she has a wide range of handsome men coming into play in the second half of season two. But the one that will always be No. 1 is Henry. Kitsis once again tackles the subject of Emma’s suitors saying, “I think what’s interesting is the love of Emma’s life last year was Henry and this year we actually met the one person that she has fallen in love with [Neal]. Hook is obviously eye candy. I don’t know if she would stare at him and think he would be a great father to Henry but he might be fun in Vegas.” However, it is looking like a strong possibility that Neal/Emma fans will see a reunion by the end of the season. When I asked the creators if Henry would be meeting his birthfather this season, Horowitz bluntly revealed, “I would be really disappointed if we went this season and we didn’t show that. That would suck.”

@Jesus_David12 Hi! i would love for you to ask the OUAT creators when Aurora is coming back! thank you! :D

As we all learned this year, wherever we see Aurora, we know that Mulan is always close by ready to protect the dainty princess. Fans will get a deeper peek into Mulan’s past in “The Outsider” airing Jan. 13. Kistis said, “Aurora and Mulan are off to save Phillip and we are hoping to kind of return to that at some point this year, but I can say that for the first batch of episodes we are focusing on the Charmings and the Rumbelles and it’s family dynamics. That’s what really is going on.” So be prepared Aurora fans, because after Jan. 13 we wont be seeing this fearless feminine duo until we near the end of season two.

Bonus Scoop: Are we going to see Ariel anytime soon?

Diehard fans of the show know that the idea of Ariel has been teased on nurmerous occasions, so I made sure to ask what’s the plan for our favorite underwater princess. Kitsis explained, “Probably not this season, we’ve taken a lot of toys off the shelf and we’re probably not going to see her this year . We do have a plan for her if there is a season three.” If? No, more like when! Horowitz added, “Ariel’s character is a character that we love and in our minds we have a way that we want to integrate her into the story and we don’t want to overload with too many [characters].” Fair enough, but I seriously cannot wait for the day that we finally get to see her swimming our way.
Can’t get enough Once Upon a Time? Of course not! Check back tomorrow for a magical article to get you all caught up before Sunday night’s winter premiere!

” New Girl is going to be back in our lives

Faster than you can say “chut-en-ee,” New Girl is going to be back in our lives, and with that delicious concoction of weirdos comes everyone’s favorite douchebag, Schmidt (Max Greenfield). The Emmy-nominated (and now Golden Globe-nominated) actor hopped on a conference call with reporters to tease the second half of Season 2, and according to him, the saga of Cece and Schmidt is nowhere near over.

At the end of the Christmas episode, we found Cece allowing her mother to set her up on a blind date so she can presumably meet a nice, successful man to give her a house and lots of babies now that her biological clock driving her to desperate lengths. But is this the end of Cece and Schmidt? Don’t count on it.

”It seems as though he’ll go after her, he’ll totally screw it up, and then they’ll find a place in friendship and once they’re settled into like a normal like friend relationship, he’ll feel the need to then go after her again,” says Greenfield. So the tortuous back and forth is here to stay? “Oh yeah,” adds Greenfield in a tone not unlike the Kool-aid man.

Of course, knowing ol’ Schmidty, there will be loads of screw-ups along the way. “He’s uncomfortable in his own skin and as a result puts a little too much effort into everything,” says the Golden Globe nominee. And while he may be unlucky in love, Schmidt knows where to draw the line: no Valentine’s Day love-seeking for this guy. “It’s for amateurs,” says Greenfield as his TV alter ego.

But Schmidt may be changing his tune. Cece’s affair with the fresh-pressed-linens-lover isn’t the only love story coming back to the show, Greenfield also teased that Nelson Franklin, who played Cece’s boyfriend (and the bane of Schmidt’s existence) Robby during the first half of Season 2, will return in the near future.

However, even if his love life onscreen doesn’t exactly go the way of so many romantic sunsets, Greenfield will get his own happy ending at the Golden Globes on Jan. 13. “I like to dress up, I like to put on a spiffy outfit. I look forward to when the show starts to end and you can loosen up the bowtie … like you’re in the movie Diner,” he says. But trophy or no trophy, it’s a win for the gracious actor: “You get to celebrate that you have a job and you’re working … but I plan on dancing quite a bit.” Just how much is he planning on dancing? “I just have some party moves, straight up party moves,” he jokes. Now that’s a Globes party we’d like to get in on. Anyone need a plus one?

New Girl returns to Fox Jan. 8 at 9 PM.

Cute Kristen Stewart a big fan of strip clubs?

Kristen Stewart was spotted wearing a sweater advertising a strip club while arriving at LAX airport on Saturday.

Kristen, who was heading to London to spend New Year's Eve with R-Patz, apparently gave some free publicity to Mary's Strip Club in Portland, Oregon - the place where she made many happy memories filming most of theTwilight movies.

The club's logo was emblazoned on the back of the open hoodie, along with a printed outline of a topless lady.

Apparently it boasts the "finest" topless girls in the country.

Top 10 Best Over all Movies Of 2012

How time flies. 2012 is about to come to an end, and soon it's time to usher the year of 2013. Likewise, I have spend an amount of time compiling a shortlist for my Top 10 Best Movies of 2012 I've seen so far. Here goes:

10. GF*BF

Alternatively known as GIRLFRIEND BOYFRIEND, this coming-of-age drama is certainly among the best Taiwanese movies I've ever come across. It's a well-meaning drama that explores friendship, romance, sexuality and politics. Yang Ya-Che's passionate direction is top-notch. All three actors delivered remarkable performances, particularly for Gwei Lun-Mei's award-winning performance as a spunky girl with hidden vulnerability.

9. THE VIRAL FACTOR

Dante Lam's most expensive movie to date (which cost HK$200 million to make) is certainly an electrifying, action-packed extravaganza. While the plot (always his forte) takes a backseat, THE VIRAL FACTOR is a vastly entertaining HK blockbuster that rivaled the one often found in Hollywood big-budget action movies. Action are top-notch (kudos to Lam for making full use of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as his action-packed playground!), while both Nicholas Tse and Jay Chou delivered emotionally-charged performances.

8. COLD WAR

Heavily promoted as "the next INFERNAL AFFAIRS", COLD WAR is thankfully neither a marketing gimmick or an INFERNAL AFFAIRS-like wannabe. Instead it's a solid crime thriller that gives a fresh perspective rarely seen in a cop genre. Who could have thought that watching a group of high-ranking police officers barking at each others over their internal conflict struggling to solve a case... can be this entertaining? First-time writers and directors Longman Leung and Sunny Luk are certainly impressive, even though their directions are spotty and haphazard in places. Not to forget, COLD WAR is blessed with a solid ensemble -- which includes Aaron Kwok, Charlie Yeung, Gordon Lam, Aarif Rahman and of course, a particularly standout performance by Tony Leung Ka-Fai. His no-nonsense portrayal as Deputy Commissioner of Police from Operation Division, M.B. Lee is the kind of superb acting truly deserved an award nomination.

7. VULGARIA

One of Pang Ho-Cheung's best movies to date, VULGARIA is a top-notch Hong Kong comedy that brilliantly pokes fun on the Hong Kong movie industry (particularly Category III genre and low-budget filmmaking in general). This movie is certainly a laugh-out riot, with colorful and creative Cantonese profanities all over the place. All the playful cast are downright memorable, with a pitch-perfect performance by Chapman To. But the real standout is Ronald Cheng, who plays the crude and primitive triad head Tyrannosaurus.

6. WRECK-IT RALPH

One of the best animated movies I've ever seen other than the one made by Pixar studio. First-time feature director Rich Moore does an excellent job crafted a truly heartwarming tale with knowing humor and genuine emotion where he gamely explores his nostalgic love of video games from yesteryears as well as today's arcades generation. WRECK-IT RALPH is certainly a special treat for those who love video games a lot. Top-notch animation, captivating characters all around and loads of popular video game cameos (Pac-Man! Street Fighters! Sonic the Hedgehog!)

5. PROMETHEUS

It's been quite some time since director Ridley Scott made a great movie that stick into our mind. Thankfully for this year, PROMETHEUS is one of them. His latest sci-fi epic is certainly ranked up there alongside ALIEN and BLADE RUNNER. What's more, PROMETHEUS is a fantastic prequel to ALIEN and Ridley Scott is at the top of his game here. His meticulous direction is masterful, and expertly paced with razor-sharp editing and careful framing that each moment is a sight to behold. He knows a lot about building tension and nail-biting suspense that keeps you on the edge of the seat. One such standout is the squirm-inducing set-piece involving Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) struggling inside the automatic surgical chamber. It's truly a hair-raising cinematic experience that had me stunned when I watched this in the cinema. Sure, the overall movie is not perfect (e.g. uneven script) but PROMETHEUS is a rare sci-fi epic that is both entertaining, scary and thought-provoking all in one.

4. ARGO

Actor-director Ben Affleck is at the top of his game here (again) with ARGO. Blessed with a fascinating premise taken from a declassified true story during the 1979-81 Iranian Revolution, Affleck creates an entertaining mix of old-school political thriller and showbiz comedy that is both dramatic and hilarious. All the acting ensemble are top-notch, including a perfectly low-key performance by Affleck himself. But the standout here is Alan Arkin, who definitely deserved an award nomination. (Full review coming soon!)

3. SKYFALL

Many have hailed SKYFALL as "the best Bond movie ever", and they didn't lie. SKYFALL is indeed a tour de force achievement for a Bond movie. Special kudos to director Sam Mendes for being daring enough to reconstruct the typical Bond formula inside out by exploring into an uncharted territory -- Bond's personal history as well as his rarely-mentioned parents. This is a rare Bond movie where plot and characters come first (all the acting performances are fantastic, particularly for Judi Dench as M and Javier Bardem as Silva). Not to mention, it's also the most gorgeously-photographed Bond movie has ever made (thanks to Roger Deakins for that!). Action may take a backseat this time, but at least Mendes proves to be a great visual stylist after all (particularly the opening 12 minutes). Mendes has certainly set the bar high in SKYFALL for future Bond movies to come.

2. LIFE OF PI

Impossible is possible for acclaimed Taiwanese director Ang Lee. Whoever claimed that Yann Martel's award-winning novel, LIFE OF PI is deemed "unfilmable", well, Ang Lee did it with a flying color. He has successfully created a visually stunning, emotionally gripping and thematically inspiring adventure drama about a boy and a tiger trapped on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Newcomer Suraj Sharma is a real find and definitely a teen prodigy who plays the titular Pi with such conviction. Of course, there's the startlingly convincing CGI Bengal tiger.

1. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

This is it, ladies and gentleman! My numero uno for this year's movie is none others than THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Typically, a third movie in the trilogy doesn't usually ends well especially when a sequel had already sets the bar high. But Christopher Nolan is a master filmmaker as always. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES may not reaches the same dizzying height he did before in THE DARK KNIGHT, but it's a superbly-crafted blockbuster nonetheless. At nearly three-hour long, this movie is hardly a butt-numbing experience. Instead it's a remarkable epic where Nolan successfully executed an intensely personal drama for every key character involved in here. The ensemble cast are magnificent, and Nolan has done a great job turning Tom Hardy's Bane into one of the most memorable comic-book villains ever graced on the big screen. And there's the ultimate conclusion the way Nolan ended his Batman trilogy on a high note. It's truly a great scene that deserved a round of applause.

Top 10 Worst Over All Mixed Movies of 2012

From my Top 10 Best Movies of 2012, here comes my Top 10 Worst Movies of 2012:

10. JOHN CARTER

With a lavish budget of $250 million, JOHN CARTER looks set to be one of the most spectacular sci-fi epics of the year. Why not, since this movie is directed by Andrew Stanton (in his first live-action feature after directing three Pixar's animated classics, A BUG'S LIFE, FINDING NEMO and WALL-E). I mean, what could possibly go wrong? Well, a lot. The story is heavy-handed, the fantastical sci-fi element feels seriously deja vu, the action is lackluster and worst of all, Taylor Kitsch is totally bland to make him iconic enough as the titular character.

9. JACK REACHER

The marketing people does a great job convinced me that I'm on a rollercoaster ride of a muscular, yet refreshingly low-tech crime thriller with Tom Cruise playing bad-ass character! But it turns out to be that JACK REACHER is nothing than a clunky, wannabe thriller tries so hard to be cool and serious. Tom Cruise is fatally miscast here, while Christopher McQuarrie's direction is terribly haphazard. Frankly, the whole movie is so draggy I almost dozed off a couple of times.

8. TAKEN 2

The sequel that shouldn't be existed at the first place. But yet, TAKEN 2 managed to make a lot of money at the box office. But whatever it is, this sequel is an absolutely lazy rehash from the first movie. The action is badly framed with annoying shaky-cam, coupled with haphazard editing all over the place. Liam Neeson looks tired here, and director Olivier Megaton made this sequel so awfully generic and bland it should have been belong in a direct-to-video market instead.

7. THE POSSESSION

Despite this would-be shocker is produced by none others than Sam Raimi, THE POSSESSION is a shockingly dull horror picture all around. Ole Bornedal's direction is terribly pedestrian, while all the scary parts are always abruptly cut off in favor for the next scene. Just about everything here is dreadfully formulaic.

6. TAI CHI ZERO

An old-fashioned martial-art genre with a steampunk twist? Why not? Once in a while, it's good to see an oft-seen genre is given a new lease of life. But for all the fancy bag of tricks actor-director Stephen Fung tries so hard to pull off here, TAI CHI ZERO is surprisingly uninvolving. The story is a bloated mess and the pace is awfully sluggish to get to the point. Newcomer Jayden Yuan is terribly wooden as the lead role.

5. TAI CHI HERO

What can I say? It's the same old mistake Stephen Fung has made in TAI CHI ZERO. Sure, this sequel is considerably restrained in term of its visual excesses but it's still a painfully boring picture that tries too hard to be hip, funny and entertaining altogether.

4. LINCOLN

Steven Spielberg's passion project is certainly greeted with such universal acclaim amongst critics and it's surprisingly a box office success in US so far. Daniel Day-Lewis is a spot-on as the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln but his acting performance is hampered by terribly clunky script. Spielberg has certainly made a big mistake for stripping his would-be remarkable epic to a bare-bone of a stage-like production. And he is definitely out of his element here. LINCOLN is too talky for its own good, and its enormous 150 minutes is really tough to sit through. (Full review coming soon!)

3. NIGHTFALL

This wannabe thriller has Nick Cheung and Simon Yam, but director Roy Chow has wasted their talents with his terribly dull movie filled with absurd plot, snail pace, and lots of talky expositions. And that climactic third-act... you just have to see it for yourself how Roy Chow ends his movie in such a convoluted manner.

2. SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

An oft-told Snow White fairy tale gets a revisionist makeover, and that is something interesting I really looked forward to. But after watching the movie, imagine how disappointed I am to find out that SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN is such a complete disaster. First-time feature director Rupert Sanders has no sense of pacing and everything here looks lifeless. All the cast are seriously undermined, and it's really hard to swallow that the always-glum Kristen Stewart plays the "fairer" kind.

1. COSMOPOLIS

Oh, here goes... COSMOPOLIS! It's hard to believe that David Cronenberg can do so much worse in his directing career. He's clearly out of his element here directing this weird, but painfully boring movie that relies a lot of dialogue rather than his usual captivating visual flair. He looks hopelessly lost trying to make a talky movie (just like he did before in A DANGEROUS METHOD). Robert Pattinson is seriously dull in the lead role here, and so do everyone else involved here. This is a monumental waste of time.
